Almost 200,000 children are still being failed in poorly-performing secondary schools, according to British student performance stats published today.
GCSE league tables: 250 schools threatened - Telegraph: "They are languishing in around 250 state secondaries placed on a Government hit-list after falling short of official GCSE exam targets. The schools - representing almost one-in-12 in England - will be given just a year to improve standards or face being closed or merged under Labour plans to wipe out under-performing schools."
