UPDATE: Real GREEN IS JOBS HERE ... more from the Tonight Show...

The latest celebrity to get a set of keys to a BMW Hydrogen 7 is well-known car enthusiast Jay Leno (apparently he's on some TV show as well). Last year Leno worked with a GM design studio to build the biodiesel fueled, turbine-powered EcoJet. Leno claims to have transformed his 20,000 sq.ft garage into a "green garage" that provides its own power via 19th century steam and natural gas engines. He has been upgrading the garage with new more efficient shop equipment. Previously BMW gave one of the Hydrogen 7s to actor Will Ferrell.

MR. LENO: I've got the GM hydrogen car. That's a whole new --
MR. OBAMA: That's a whole new level of technology.
That's what's going to create the auto industry of the future.
That's where we're going to win back manufacturing.
But right now we’re behind.
These batteries are being made in Japan –- just like wind power is being made in Europe. We need to bring that here, and that's part of what my budget and part of what our Recovery Act is all about.

FD: Leno just recently got a BMW Hydrogen Car...
FD: Leno does not seem to really like the GM Hydrogen Car at the pump.

Q: (Reuters) Are you in line to get a Chevy Volt?
A: (Jay Leno) I’m going to go by and drive it and test it. Right now, I’ve got the Equinox, the hydrogen car. It’s not mine but I’ve had it for about a year and I put about six or seven thousand miles on it. I’m kind of a geek and if there’s any problem I write it down in the notebook.
Q: How has the Equinox been?
A: It’s been incredible. The only downside is that it’s about a 20 minute wait for a fill-up, so bring a book. But that’s only because the infrastructure is not here yet so it takes a little longer to fill.
Q: Do you think you’ll be one of the first to test drive a Volt in real-world conditions?
A: I would love to be. I would love to try it. I think it will be great. I think you’ll find that the Volt will be a superior package to the Prius.
