much of a surprise. However, GM closings will really shock people I know...

Closing Chrysler Dealerships Chrysler will close one-quarter of its dealerships in the United States. Below, see names, location details of the 789 dealers the embattled auto maker is seeking to drop from its retail network, according to documents filed Thursday with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Manhattan.
A day after Chrysler said it was cutting a quarter of its dealerships, owners of General Motors Corp. dealerships are awaiting word Friday on whether they will be next. GM plans a media call at noon ET.
GM said it will notify 1,100 U.S. dealers on Friday that their franchise agreements will not be renewed. Dealers expect to hear either by telephone or FedEx letters that will begin arriving Friday morning.
GM spokeswoman Susan Garontakos said the company will not make public a list of dealers to be cut, leaving the decision to release information to individual business owners.
Meanwhile, GM, under the direction of the U.S. Treasury, is near a deal that would cut its hourly labor costs by more than $1 billion a year and reduce its $20 billion pledge to the United Auto Workers to cover health-care obligations, said people familiar with the matter.

My mama's family was committed to Chrysler products. Rarely strayed from the fold. From my early childhood I learned that the Dodge marque was "Dodge Brothers". That's what my folks called their 1950 sedan. I have never owned a Chrysler product, but daddy's last Dodge Dakota pickup passed through me on its way to being my son's first vehicle.
Don't know about the closed/closing dealerships in Dallas, but the ones around here are busy selling other marques (Frank Kent in FW, Grubbs in midcities, etc).
