I’m married to my best friend and former business partner (Fred Holland), and together we share our lives with a large family of adult children and grandchildren, four dogs, a tree farm, and our Quaker Friends. The photo below shows me and my husband proving that we’re both Geeks by posing with the “Welcome to Hobbiton” sign in Matamata New Zealand. I think this one was taken in June, 2004, by a friendly Japanese tourist we met as we tramped through the remnants of the movie set.

If you lived your life like your dog...

When it's in your best interest, practice obedience.
Never pretend to be something you are not.
When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close by, and nuzzle them gently.
Be loyal.
Stop when you have had enough.
Eat with gusto and enthusiasm.
No matter how often you are scolded, don't buy into the guilt thing and pout. Run right back and make friends.
When you are happy, DANCE and wag your entire body.
On warm days, lie on your back on the grass.
Avoid biting when a simple growl will do.
Thrive on attention and let people touch you.
Run, Romp, and Play daily.
Take naps and stretch before rising.
Let Others know when they have invaded your territory.
Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure ecstasy.
On hot days, drink lots of water and lay under a shady tree.
When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.
